A table shows up in the Word table of contents. See the example below:
Why This Occurs
Table of Contents are populated by any content that is set to a Heading style, in the "Styles" section of the Home ribbon in Word.
If a table (or any text) is showing up in the ToC, it most likely has an incorrect Heading style applied to it.
How to Correct?
To correct the issue in which a table shows up in the Word Table of Contents, follow these steps:
- In the ToC, CTRL+Click the offending image to be navigated directly to the table/image.
- Select the image and apply the Normal style from the styles utility in the Home Ribbon in Word.
- Click on the References Ribbon and then choose "Update Table".
