Component: Updater
Symptom(s): When attempting to run the Updater, it immediately crashes. It typically displays a Windows error message that says it "has stopped working".
Typical Cause: A Windows update has broken the 6.5.4 MySQL connector.
Time required to fix: ~2 minutes
Solution: Uninstalling and then reinstalling the MySQL connector.
1. Go to https://dev.mysql.com/downloads/connector/net/
2. Select select version 6.5.4 from the Product Version drop-down menu, then click Download in the lower right.
3. Once the .msi installer file has finished downloading, double click it to launch the installer. You can find the installer (mysql-connector-net-6.5.4.msi) in your browser's downloads menu or your Downloads folder.
4. Once the installer opens, click Next, then click the Remove button and proceed through the uninstall process. Note: If you don't see the option to remove, it means the connector isn't installed at all and you can skip to the next step.
5. Once the uninstall process has completed, double click on the installer file again. Click Typical and proceed through the installation process. |
Once the installation process has completed, the Updater should launch normally. If you continue to encounter the same issue, please contact Support at support@narrative1.com.
