An amount paid to a real estate broker for locating a tenant and arranging a lease agreement. Generally leasing commissions are calculated as a percentage of the gross value of a lease. Example: A tenant signs a 10 year lease for an office space that costs $100/sf per year. The gross value of this lease is 10yr * $100/sf/yr = $1000/sf. If the lease has a 5% leasing commission, the broker would receive a commission of 5% * $1000/sf = $50/sf.
