Error: '401 - Unauthorized database error'

Problem
The following error message appears upon opening a Report Writer Excel file, or when running Database Setup: "Could not connect to the database. The following was reported: The system could not connect to user's private database. Please report the following status code to Report Writer Support: 401 - Unauthorized"
Solution
To fix this error, please follow Solution 1. If that does not fix the error, follow Solution 2.
Solution 1: Your credentials saved in the Report Writer files on your PC may be incorrect. To update these, you can use the Connection Setup (or Database Setup in older templates) function:
Open any LightBox-Report Writer Excel document.
Click the “File Info” worksheet tab (if it is not already open). Worksheets are listed along the bottom of the window.
Click the “Database Setup” or "Connection Setup" button on the left, near the top of the worksheet.
Ensure you have your correct credentials entered (see below).
Click “Apply/Reset” and wait a few seconds.
If necessary, you can reset your password at https://n1auth.exactbid.com:8443/user/forgotpassword if you are on the self-managed password system. Technical support can assist with this reset or with locating your credentials if needed.
Solution 2: Run the Report Writer Installer or the Updater to get the correct software. This may fix the issue if it relates to having outdated Report Writer add-ins.
