The U.S. Fire and Emergency Incident Database includes records from millions of fire and emergency events across the United States. Fires can leave behind residues and structural damage that create environmental conditions and can impact properties for decades. The data provides insights into property history, risks, and potential liabilities that can assist in performing high quality environmental due diligence.
The historical fire database in LightBox Live enables you to:
Identify historical fire events impacting subject and nearby properties
Gain insight into historical property uses
Cross reference fire and emergency events with other environmental data to support conclusions related to potential environmental issues
About the Content
Sourced from the National Fire Incident Reporting System (NFIRS) and curated by LightBox, the data includes millions of historical incident records from 1980 to 2023, as recorded by local fire departments across the country.
Maintained by USFA (U.S Fire Administration), the National Fire Incident Reporting System (NFIRS) is a voluntary reporting standard used by fire departments. NFIRS is the world's largest, national, annual database of fire incident information. Records include events from 1980-2023, where available. There are two versions of the database. NFIRS 5.0 includes records from 1999-2023. NFIRS 4.1 includes records from 1980-1998.
Records are collected on many types of incidents, including:
Structure & building fires
Vehicle fires
Explosions, chemical releases, and spills
Hazardous material events
Many other types of fire and emergency events...
Records are presented in LightBox Live within 1/8 mile of the target property. To access the information, select from the “Additional Records” drop-down menu in LightBox Live. Detailed text fields include, where available:
