    Article summary

EDR’s VEC App is an intuitive data analysis interface that allows environmental professionals to quickly and effectively screen their target properties for vapor encroachment risk.  In the VEC App, you can view all your data sources in a single browser experience.

Today, over of 90% of environmental professionals consider a screen for vapor issues part of the Phase I ESA. Utilizing ASTM E2600-15 is the preferred methodology for conducting this screen, and EDR’s VEC App is the industry’s only Vapor Encroachment Assessment Tool.

The power of the VEC App is in its built-in analytical tools. It also allows for simple documentation of your ASTM E2600-15 compliance by creating a customized report.

The following steps will help you to quickly and accurately identify and document potential VECs using EDR’s VEC App.  Each step is described in detail in the links on the left.

    1. Define Area of Concern

    2. Review Sites in AOC

    3. Identify the VEC status

    4. Output Your Report

    5. VEC vs. REC

The VEC link is now under the Lightbox section.

Q: Can client order an a la carte VEC?

A: No.  The VEC App feature is now only accessible with a Radius Map report that has Lightbox access.  This is going to be automatically included in a standard and premium package.   You may still have the ability to order a la carte VEC in OMA.  If you do so, it will not go anywhere.  Please do not order as a la carte in OMA.

Q: Why is the VEC App tool not accessible in Lightbox?

A: VEC App was either not ordered or the data content is still running on the back end.

Q:  What will happen to the client’s VEC work if we need to rerun the radius map?

A:  If a radius map report is rerun for any reason and the Lightbox link needs to be reset, any VEC work the client has done will be wiped out.  If a new radius map is needed but they do not want to lose their VEC work, submit a new order for a new radius map with lightbox.  The client will have to view Radius Map data in the new order and view their VEC work in the old order. No, there is not a way to combine the two.

Q:  Can client run an older VEC report in the new VEC Tool in Lightbox?

A: No.  We do not have the capabilities to do so.  Have a new order placed to get the new VEC tool.

Q:  How long will the VEC Tool & Data be available for use in Lightbox?

A: The Lightbox application is accessible for up to one year after the order is placed. The VEC data will be archived after 90 days.  At that point, client will not be able to make any edits.

Q: Why is my site considered removed even though it appears to be within the Area of Concern (AOC)?

A: In the older VEC application, any site that was outside the VEC database search distances would not have been included at all, causing a lot of confusion on why radius map has some data and VEC does not. Now that the radius map data is available within the same application, Lightbox with the new VEC tool now shows any potential hits.  Client can access the search distance tool feature and check if the database the site in question falls under is searched to TP. If database is searched to TP but falls within AOC, the VEC tool will consider the site removed.  If the client disagrees with our assessment, they now have the ability to easily change it to included in the right hand side.

Q: Why does Orderviewer still show VEC as a line item, but does not show as such on the client’s SRF?

A: Even though VEC is not considered a report anymore, but a tool, VEC still needs to be “added” as its own line item (just like Lightbox is its own line item, and sanborn viewer is its own line item, etc).  Because of this, you will still see it as a separate line item in Salesforce and in Orderviewer.

Q:  What content is available to view in the VEC App tool?

A: The VEC App's functions apply to whichever content is ordered. So, for example, if the content requested includes HRHR, then the VEC App can do its magic on that content. But since FirstSearch reports do NOT include HRHR, then VEC App will not evaluate HRHR. Same goes for client standards.  Whatever data is requested in the client standard is available for evaluation in the VEC App, no more, no less.

Q: Is the VEC APP tool available for First Search products?

A: VEC App is available with FirstSearch/Lightbox. Customer may select this option on the SRF and VEC App is added to the Ligthtbox Tools menu.

Even though the line item is lumped in between paid products, it would still be free. It will be reordered on the SRF so that it is not confusing.
