Article Summary

Hyper-accurate building data designed to answer critical questions.

Overview

Structure location on the property is vital when performing critical tasks such as natural hazard risk and energy consumption assessment. It is also a great dataset to link building characteristics, lease information, and business listings. If you are looking for structure footprints to place ADUs, building a 3d model,  or performing natural risk analysis, this dataset provides the spatial and vertical context that is needed.

Zoom in on essential details
Explore nationwide coverage of building shapes greater than 250 square feet for more than 99% of the US population.

Access more attributes
Gain insights to precise rooftop-level location, as well as primary and secondary addresses, and building height ground elevation.

Link to relevant data
Connect with parcel/assessor/addressing data as well as points of interest.

Tightly linked to Parcels, Assessments and Addresses
Structures are tightly linked to all the data within SmartFabric products via the LightBox ID. This allows for the understanding of the base parcel information, the related assessment data, who owns the property, and what addresses are within each building.

See SmartFabric Relationship Tables for more information on linking.

Data Collection

LightBox collects structure data from many sources. The first approach is to go to the authoritative source such as the county, city, state, and township and collect shape information. Not all areas are available, so the second approach is to use LiDAR which generates a highly accurate building footprint along with ground elevation and height. The third approach is to use image extraction.

The LightBox Identifier is a persistent and universal identifier for data that creates powerful connections to the LightBox information model. Our Structure dataset supports this ID and is available through the structure API and SmartFabric™ data package. Using the LightBox ID will go through the full property graph.
